Position Description:

Title: Preschool Director & Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Coordinator

Reports to: Pastor

Direct Reports: Preschool Staff

FLSA: Exempt, salary

Hours: Full-Time, 12 months

Benefits eligible: Yes

Job Purpose: Support the ministry of the pastor and vision of the parish by directing early childhood education in the Preschool, expanding the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program and developing relevant part-time programming for parish families with Preschool children who are not currently enrolled in the Preschool.

Key Responsibilities:

Preschool Direction:

  • Foster an environment that reflects the mission and vision of the Church of St. Mark.

  • Administration of the Preschool including accreditation, admissions, enrollment (TADS), curriculum, staff scheduling, etc.

  • Manage, direct, and lead the Preschool teachers.

  • Communication point person with parents, staff and parish.

  • Part-time teaching as needed.

Develop and expand the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program:

  • Assess and strengthen the current Level I program offered in the Preschool.

  • Develop a strategy to expand program offerings to include Levels II and III and start to implement that strategy in the next 12 months.

Develop a strategy to engage families who choose to stay home with their Preschool-aged children:

  • Evaluate recent feedback that indicates the need for programming for parish families who have Preschool-aged children not in the school.

  • Implement appropriate programs to engage this group including but not limited to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and ECFL.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education or significant work-related experience.

  • At least three years experience in a Catholic school environment.

  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training (minimum Level I completed)

  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team setting, as a team leader.

  • Demonstrated understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine.

  • Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and meet the Essential Three requirements of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Catholic school administration.

  • 3-5 years of experience with compliance for DHS, and accreditation.

  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level II and III training.

  • One year of experience in an Atrium.

  • Experience with TADS.
