St. Mark’s Extremely Flexible Monthly Service Opportunity - Loaves and Fishes!

St. Mark’s draws on a large pool of volunteers to field a rotating team of 10 to 20 people who prepare and/or serve dinner at two Catholic Charities locations each month. Folks can volunteer every month or once a year. Even if you never take a shift, as a St. Mark’s parishioner, you are still contributing because the food provided on these days is funded in part by St. Mark’s “Sunday Giving”.

Every 4th Tuesday of the month our parishioners meet at the Dorothy Day Opportunity Center in downtown St. Paul. This large facility serves dinner to hundreds of adults every evening. We also serve every 3rd Thursday at the Maplewood Family Services Center which provides food and shelter for families, typically serving 30 to 50 adults and children. The food prep and serving shifts range from 90 minutes to 2 hours and most volunteers choose just one shift although some stay on for both.

Volunteers sign up online through the Catholic Charities Volunteer Hub after creating an account which only takes about 5 minutes. This service opportunity works well for families with children aged 14-17 (accompanied by an adult) but each family member needs an individual account and minors need a parent to complete a one-time waiver. Once an account is created, signing up for a shift is a snap.

We especially need new volunteers May through August so please consider creating an account and volunteering for a shift at stmark.xyz/landf
