RCIA

ENCOUNTER

Are you interested in becoming Catholic, finding answers to your most challenging questions about the Catholic faith, or just hoping to learn more about the Church? RCIA might be the perfect next step for you!

RCIA Encounter is the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults program, the preparation for those adults who are interested in becoming part of the Catholic Church at the Church of Saint Mark. The program combines talks from great speakers and professors from the University of St. Thomas and the St. Paul Seminary, beautiful videos from the best producers in Catholic media, field trips, and special events in which you will be able to experience the beauty and depth of the Catholic faith.

RCIA Encounter is for those adults (18 and over) who are not baptized, those baptized in another faith, and Catholics seeking to receive the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation. It is also open to those adults who are seeking a faith renewal. Through RCIA people also prepare for entry into the Catholic Church by learning about Jesus Christ and His teachings, as well as the Church's traditions and history.

RCIA starts in the autumn and continues through the spring each year, culminating with initiation into the Church at Easter and the post-baptismal catechesis. There are five stages to the process, each stage affording opportunities to ask questions, study, pray, join in community life, and participate in celebrations during Mass. Each stage in the RCIA process will help you build an excellent foundation in the Catholic faith and wonderful relationships with a strong faith family.

RCIA Encounter sessions are mostly held on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. There will also be special sessions every month in which the participants will go to different places like the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the St. Paul Cathedral to have a firsthand experience of the faith. At the sessions, you will join other who are also inquiring about our faith. You will grow in your understanding of the teachings of the Church; as we listen to talks from outstanding professors and theologians explaining what we believe, why we believe it, and what it means personally to believe it. We will also have small group break-out moments to discuss the topics.
