We are pleased to announce that our 2019 Light of Christ Honorees are Will and Eileen Moore!
Will and Eileen are pivotal players (and pray-ers) at St. Mark’s. They initiate, organize and participate in many ministries for our parish and in our greater community. They are daily communicants and model a strong prayer and faith life which is evident in how quietly and gently they go about getting things done.
Eileen prayed for and was instrumental in opening our Adoration Chapel several years ago and continues to coordinate the adoration schedule, filling late night openings on a regular basis. She also started and coordinates the “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” ministry, organizes the annual CCW Morning of Conversion Lenten Retreat, schedules the altar servers and helps with their training, and helps at the CCW rummage sales.
Since Will retired from his work as a nurse at the Veterans Hospital and obtained his degree in pastoral care, he has been bringing communion to the home bound and nursing home residents. He generously covers many shifts during Project Home each summer and he is a lector, sacristan, and Eucharistic minister. Will and Eileen both serve on the Human Dignity Committee, participate in Bible Studies and small faith-sharing groups, and are part of the parish prayer chain.
In addition to all they do for St. Mark’s, Christ’s light shines through them in our community with their service as Third Order Fransiscans, Eileen’s work with pregnancy centers and as a tutor for Burmese Karin immigrants. Will and Eileen have both completed studies at the archdiocese Catechetical Institute. While they may be quiet about their many contributions, their St. Mark’s family has certainly noticed, nominating them numerous times over the years. Congratulations Will and Eileen and thank you for shining Christ’s light!
