Biennial Liturgy Seminar 2 (Mar 4)

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

Saturday, Mar 4 | 9 - 11 AM | Carolyn Hall

Gregorian Chant: Discovering Mystery and Beauty in Sacred Music

Out with the new - in with the old! Music Director Kathy Handford will provide some historical context for music that is used in the sung parts of the Catholic liturgy, examining what church documents and popes throughout time have said about the use of Gregorian Chant. She will also talk about the characteristics of Gregorian Chant and why when it is paired with Latin becomes the perfect musical artform for a community to express their faith in prayer.

This second seminar in our liturgy seminar series will be held Saturday, March 4th, from 9 - 11 AM, in Carolyn Hall!

And those of you who did not attend the first seminar this year with Father David, or perhaps those of you who did who would like to revisit the material, his slides are available as is the video of his presentation.
