Now Hiring: Communications Director

DESCRIPTION

The mission of the Church of St. Mark is to live and share Christ’s call to holiness. The Director of Communication provides a critical role in serving this mission by planning, organizing, creating, and implementing effective communication strategies. This role will support parish clergy, staff, and ministry leaders in advancing their objectives and engaging our parish members as well as the wider external community. This position is 20 hours per week. Some remote work is possible.

  • Execute all communication and marketing objectives of the parish.

  • Maintain the parish and Preschool websites, including designing new pages and graphics for events and campaigns, ensuring that all information is updated and accurate, and maintaining attractive, user-friendly experiences. Design digital media and print materials including web, email, social media, video, brochures, cards, flyers, posters, signage, the electronic sign on Marshall Avenue, etc.

  • Design, draft, and publish the weekly parish bulletin.

  • Coordinate and design all parish email communications regarding upcoming parish events and relevant news.

  • Work collaboratively with parish staff and leadership to develop and execute creative marketing and stewardship campaigns.

  • Unify and align communications across the parish. Ensure that all media and messaging are produced and delivered with consistent tone, look, and voice—reflective of the parish’s mission and “brand”.

  • Manage and maintain engaging social media presences for the parish, developing content for the relevant platforms.

  • Support the photography of parish events and manage the digital asset library.

  • Assist parish ministries in developing and executing communication plans for their unique objectives, mobilizing their specific audiences to engage in their ministries.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must live a life and possess values consistent with the Church of St. Mark’s Mission and Core Values.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as copy and editing skills. Has the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.

  • Strong project management experience and ability to work collaboratively to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and Acrobat Pro, and other relevant digital tools, and to serve as a resource to the staff on the use of these tools.

  • Knowledge of graphic design, videography, photography and photographic equipment, editing software, mass email and direct mail processes.

  • Work with volunteers and staff to photograph, record, and write up parish events as they happen.

  • Presence at mass at the Church of St. Mark is sometimes required. This position should be present at a weekend Mass at least one-time per month.

  • Some evenings and weekends as required.
